Emily has recently just joined our team so we sat her down with our Office Manager and decided to find out some more about her…
Welcome to the team Emily, tell us why you joined ESP…
I was drawn to the culture and the values of the company. They really focus on relationship building which I believe to be key to great recruitment. The team is very close and there is a definite winning mentality which I knew would help me grow and become successful.
What were you doing before you joined?
After graduating in International Politics and Philosophy in June I spent 3 months working as a contract IT recruiter. This was a great introduction to recruitment but I wanted a bigger challenge which lead to me joining the ESP team.
What is your best ESP memory so far?
I think it would have to be when the team went to the Annual Didsbury Beer Festival. I love beer and I love that attending this has become an ESP tradition!
What is your favourite thing about ESP life so far?
Definitely the people in the office. It’s very important that you have a great team when you spend so much time together. It’s fair to say that there’s some real characters in the office but that is what makes each day so interesting.
Do you have an office nickname?
Unfortunately mine is ET due to my initials. When asked in my first week what I preferred to be called I said anything but ET… that’s the one that has stuck.
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job would have to be registering candidates. I love this part of the process for two reasons. Firstly because I enjoy speaking to lots of different people and building a great relationship with them and secondly because I think it’s something that makes ESP stand out. They really take the time to understand what you are looking for and what is most important to you which I think is key to their success.
What is the best live gig/ live event (sport, music etc…) that you have been to?
I saw a band called ‘We Are The Ocean’ in club academy a few years back. It was the craziest gig I’ve ever been to. It was so hot that the ceiling was dripping with peoples sweat and I got kicked in the face by a stage diver but definitely worth it!
What is your favourite TV show?
This is really hard as I’m a massive Netflix binger. I think I’m torn between the American Office and Peep Show as I have watched them both 10 times over.
What would you say is your best personal achievement?
I think my best personal achievement is completing the 40 mile Keswick to Barrow walk for charity. I did it with two of my friends and with no training it was definitely the most challenging thing both mentally and physically that I’ve ever done. We all completed it, we were the last people to cross the line and my friend has the record for the slowest time! But I’m really proud that I made it to the finish line.
Give me one interesting fact about yourself
When I was 11, I lived in Germany and I was the fastest girl in my age group at 5km in my region.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
I’ve done a lot of travelling so this is a tough one. I think it’s probably India. I spent a few weeks travelling the north and absolutely loved it but there’s so much left to see that I definitely plan on making a few more trips.
